The Sisters of St. Francis of Our Lady of Guadalupe originated in Gettysburg, SD, in 1969. In November 1991 the Sisters built a new home in Mitchell, SD in hopes of broadening their ministries and attracting new vocations. The Sisters of St. Francis of Our Lady of Guadalupe dedicate ourselves to the ideals of St. Francis and the compassion of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
St. Francis teaches us to live, as Christ, among the people of our time. We proclaim the Gospel in a way which the Church and mankind truly need.
Our patroness, Our Lady of Guadalupe, inspires us to have concern for the poor and underprivileged. We consciously and willingly strive to be of service to everyone.

Mother Angelica Visits Our Convent in June of 1997
Mother Angelica visited us in 1997 and stayed with us for four days. See our photo with her. She suggested that we return to using a fuller habit and we have followed her suggestion.
